How our WoW Futon
journey of organic sleep started?
Mark and Luca were born in a Mediterranean town in western Turkey. As children raised in a family of winemakers, we vividly recall seeking a cool spot to be able to sleep in our vineyard cottage during scorching Mediterranean nights. The floor mattresses made of moisture-absorbing, thermoregulating merino wool and pure cotton fabric offered the superb cooling effect we were looking for. From that very moment on, we realized that nature is at our disposal, giving us everything we need for health and comfort.
As founders of WoW Futon, we worked for almost two decades in the international mattress trade, gaining valuable experience and knowledge about sleep products. During that time, I got to know many people from the Americas, Asia and Europe.

When WoW Futon idea first triggered. In 2020, a worldwide pandemic turned our world upside down.
Worldwide pandemic turned our families world upside down. Mark and her wife were taken into intensive care for respiratory issues caused by the virus, leaving their son Can at home. It took them 3 months to be able to walk outside. We believe having a second chance at life inspired the idea of contributing to others’ health and wellbeing. The first thing that came to mind was how simple changes could improve people’s rest. We knew from past experience that good mattresses greatly impacted the quality of sleep. The idea developed around combining the best features of Japanese and Mediterranean futons and mainstream floor mattresses, mattress toppers, protectors and bed pillows, which are proven to be healthy solutions for a good night’s sleep.
Then, we decided to expand our research into natural materials such as wool, cotton, linen and how we can use all of nature’s miraculous gifts to ensure a comfortable and healthy sleep with every mattress we make. We made sure to use chemical-free materials, knowing that cancer and autoimmune diseases are on the rise due to hazardous substances such as boric acid and antimony. WoW Futon has been pioneering this endeavour for two decades.
Considering that we spend a third of our lives in bed, the quality of our bedding determines the quality of our lives. Our bodies are in need of seamless sleep—at least 6-8 hours on firm layers made of natural and organic materials.
Growing up in that small town near the Mediterranean Sea, we experienced energetic mornings without any back pain which I attribute to sleeping on a floor mattress made of cotton and wool. As children, we were always excited when we knew we were going to sleep on the floor!
We founded WoW Futon to give others the good night’s sleep they deserve, starting with the use of natural materials in our products and inspired by the comfort of my childhood memories.
