Natural and Organic Fibers

At the heart of every organic mattress topper is the essence of nature. Materials like organic latex, linen, bamboo, wool and cotton are grown without harmful pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, providing a sleeping surface that is not only gentle on the skin but also environmentally friendly. These natural materials are remarkably breathable, temperature regulating and ensure a comfortable night's sleep, whether in the height of summer or the depths of winter.

A Healthy Surface

The benefits of organic mattress toppers go far beyond their soft, inviting surface. First of all, they are hypoallergenic and antimicrobial, making them an ideal choice for people with allergies or sensitivities. Sleeping on an organic pad isn't just about comfort; It's about making a health-conscious decision.

Redefinition of Comfort

Comfort is subjective, but organic mattress toppers have universal appeal. Latex's natural elasticity provides support that conforms to the body, relieving pressure points and reducing tossing and turning. Wool toppers, with their natural loft and elasticity, provide a soft layer that improves the sleeping experience. Known for their softness and breathability, cotton toppers provide a smooth, cool sleeping surface. It is a tailor-made sleeping experience using nature's best materials.

A Durable, Sustainable and Long-Term Investment

Organic mattress toppers aren't just a short-term improvement to your sleep; They are a long-term investment in your health and the health of our planet. These toppers are naturally durable and often outlast synthetic alternatives, meaning less waste and a smaller environmental footprint. In addition, by choosing organic farming, you support sustainable farming methods that preserve biodiversity and reduce the use of toxic chemicals.

Great Sleep Experience

Switching to organic mattress toppers is a real change. It offers a unique comfort experience from the first night. Natural materials conform to my body and provide support and softness when needed. The absence of synthetic scents ensures pleasant relaxation and waking up feeling refreshed, a long-missed feeling. This isn't just a new way to sleep. It becomes a new way of life with a deeper appreciation for the ingredients that put me to sleep every night.

Why Does WoW Futon Believe in the Power of Naturalness?

Have you ever felt unbearably itchy while wearing synthetic fabrics like nylon and polyester and then switched to a cotton fabric for relief?

I know exactly how you feel! I didn't get to wear synthetic fabrics too much, though. Growing up as a Turkish-American had unexpected benefits. Every year, during our annual summer vacation there, my family opted to buy our clothes in Turkey rather than buy them in the United States. Turkey is famous for its textiles, and so, Turkish clothes tend to be not only cheaper, but also better quality with more natural fibers than their American counterparts. I was blessed with organic, comfortable, and healthy clothes: something many people don't have the luxury of. Going to school in America while wearing my Turkish clothes was an experience in of itself. I watched my peers wear scratchy synthetic hoodies and basked in the glory of my cotton shirts. My mom understood the difference between these two sides of the fabric world remarkable, and I lived a comfortable and organic childhood because of her.

The history of fabric synthetics is a rather recent development. Before the 1930s, only natural fibers were used as clothes. Then, the first synthetic fabric was invented in the 1930s. Afterwards, fabric synthetics like nylon and polyester dominated the textile market. However, synthetic fabrics' many detriments dissuade companies like Wow Futon from using too much!

Just like my mom, WoW Futon believes in an organic and comfortable lifestyle for everyone. This is why we try our best to use natural fibers in our organic mattress toppers and other sleep products. Besides comfort, there are several reasons to not use synthetic fibers, too.

Here is our countdown of the reasons why natural fibers on organic mattress toppers are more beneficial than synthetic ones:

·      Comfort is crucial to one’s existence. Natural fibers provide far more comfort than synthetic fibers. Synthetic fibers are usually scratchy and uncomfortable while natural fibers are cooling and comfortable.

·      Furthermore, synthetic fibers trigger allergies far more often than natural fibers. The countless chemicals in the dyes and such can often inflame your skin upon prolonged contact. On the other hand, natural fibers are usually hypoallergenic, meaning that they do not induce allergic reactions.

·      Synthetic fibers are made from fossil fuels such as crude oil and precious resources such as trees. By using these to create synthetic fibers, the planet is terribly impacted. These resources don’t easily grow back, and using them creates and worsens pollution, exacerbating our climate crisis. On the other hand, natural fibers such as wool don’t harm the earth nearly as much.

·      Synthetic fibers take in more odor than natural fibers. This odor, caused by bacteria, occurs more often in synthetic fabrics. Natural fibers like cotton often naturally resist bacteria infections while synthetic fibers like polyester hold the bacteria well (good for the bacteria, bad for us!).

·      Static

·      Synthetic fibers contribute to our microplastic problem more than natural fibers do. The New York Times estimates that 35% of microplastics in oceans come from the textile industry. Although natural fibers don't completely eliminate the problem, they certainly shed less microplastics than synthetic fabrics do.

·      Synthetic fibers are non-biodegradable while natural fibers are biodegradable. Biodegradable means that, once the fabric is disposed of, it decomposes without harming the environment. While fabrics like cotton can biodegrade in only a few months, fabrics like polyester can take hundreds of years.

·      Synthetic fibers may contribute to cancer. Recently, a dangerous chemical was found in some gym wear made of fabrics like polyester and spandex: according to research, high levels of this chemical can contribute to higher rates of cancer. There is no telling what dangers are lurking in artificial fabrics. I’d much rather put my trust in good old cotton!

·      Synthetic fabrics cause more water contamination than natural fibers do. Along with micro plastics, there are other ways synthetic fabrics pollute the earth. Synthetic fabrics are made from processes that often have harmful byproducts. Plus, they use dyes that are detrimental to the environment. Often, these byproducts and dyes wash into local rivers, streams, and oceans where they mess with the ecosystem to terrible effect.

Because we know all of synthetic fabrics’ detrimental effects, we at Wow Futon try and put our best foot forward by using as much natural material as possible. By doing so, we strive to cultivate a minimalist and natural lifestyle for you through our products. Enjoy!
